Greek stopper on the way to Liverpool

Following the trend of Greek imports started by Sotorios Kyrgiakos for his solid plays in central defence since last month, reports in Greece suggest that Greek international and Olympiacos Vasilis Torosidis is on his way to Liverpool to have a medical before finalising a move to the red half of Merseyside.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has been tracking the 24-year-old since injury news to Glenn Johnson and has reportedly bagged his man. Soitrios Kyrgiakos who signed for Liverpool in the summer is keen for his Greek colleague to join him at Anfield.

Benitez, who has dismissed talk that he has signed a pre-contract with Juventus is still confident Liverpool will finish fourth in the Premier League, and is keen to add to his squad after signing Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid. However, Benitez is only looking for loan signings and bargains.

Torosidis was coveted last summer by the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich AS Monaco and Rangers.
